Max K Black

Max K Black was born in Ottawa Canada, and studied at the University of Ottawa in International Studies and Modern Languages as well as Fine Arts at the Ottawa School of Art. Combining the ancient with the new, Black's work takes an interdisciplinary approach to art making and conceptualization. Creating an alchemy between materials and human understanding, Black explores notions of identity, experience and belief, through humour and elements of the macabre. Finding beauty in the unsettling and mischief in the solemn, Black searches for understanding between disjointed ideas, struggling to reach out and embrace each other.
